UX Designer transitioning from Fashion Product Management
How did you get started in UX Design?
Hi, I'm Rachel Yeagyeong Cho.
I have eight years of experience in fashion product management. At one point, I was a part-time model, managing 15 people in the fashion product management team and multiple remote factory workers from Vietnam and China.
Fun Fact:

I’ve been diving into the world of financial investing for over 11 years, and love it

I had 4 different majors in college.  I’m curious about so many topics.

I love to travel.  I’ve visited 12 countries, and the list is growing.

At the age of 20 I started a Varsity Jacket Fashion start-up business.  My business proposal for this company was accepted by the Government Venture Fund Sponsorship.

I have received honors at every school I’ve attended my entire life.

I donate a portion of all my profits to the Red Cross Blood services to save lives. I love to help the immigrant community with emotional support and donations.

I’m a proud coffee and glazed donut lover! ❤️

There's nothing wrong to be sweet and genuine.

My journey into UX design was launched when I was fortunate enough to receive full funding from the South Korea Venture Capital Fund for my business proposal.  My user selects the candidate they need and I would love to be the best to reach their goals. I love to help others to pursue their business and see progress in the long term not the flash for a moment. I've trained myself to be the best researcher, communicator, and public speaker from day one.

This led me to come to the United States as part of a Government Work-Abroad Scholarship Nominee (Korea Student Aid Foundation, KOSAF , South Korea) for professional careers.

I loved the U.S so much I decided to apply to become an international transfer student at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and my life became full of amazing experience and challenges at the same time.

Luckily, they offered me freshmen exemption. So, I was able to graduate within three years and begin working in positions that allowed me to experiment with VR/ AR technology and cutting-edge software programs.

Currently, I am certified in multiple UX Design and Computer programming and have a strong background in business and the basics of computer programming that can be applied universally.

Currently, my main focus is user experience design. I'm not scared of getting my hands dirty, though. Thanks to my background as a fashion product manager and designer, I have the versatility to adjust and the ability to empathize with users to understand their issues and try to find solutions that work for them.
I am an experienced, fast-paced, and detail-oriented and deadline-driven. I can effectively communicate with engineers and product owners.

Raised in Seoul, Korea
Living in Manhattan, NY

I grew up with an Asian background and have since experienced Western cultures.  This unique opportunity has given me a global mindset, and an empathetic outlook on life.

I moved to Los Angeles in 2014 from Seoul and then on to Manhattan from Los Angeles. Manhattan has a vibrant enthusiasm for the American dream in the design field. It's something I've never seen anywhere else. Living in various countries, I've come to realize that I shouldn't take this for granted.
